Margie is a consultant paediatrician within the Department of General Medicine, Royal Childrens Hospital (RCH), and an Associate Professor and David Bickart Clinician Scientist Fellow, Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. She is an immunisation expert with over ten years of experience in vaccine research and clinical work, both in Australia and in resource poor settings. She has expertise in vaccine clinical trials, vaccine safety, program evaluation, health system strengthening in low resource settings, social science and vaccine policy. She contributes to national and international immunisation and general paediatric research advisory committees. In Australia, she is a trusted national spokesperson on vaccination issues and a leader in vaccine acceptance and communication with a strong advocacy role and prominent media profile. She is passionate about strong, respectful communication in healthcare and for the last five years she has written the Dr Margie Blog for RCH to engage with the public on current child health Issues through social media.
