Dr. Robert Garofalo


Dr. Robert Garofalo, M.D., M.P.H., is the Division Chief of Adolescent Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Director of the hospital’s Gender, Sexuality and HIV Prevention Center. In this role he co-directs of the new gender and sexual development clinical program at Lurie Children’s. This is the first comprehensive program providing multidisciplinary care to gender-nonconforming children and adolescents in the Midwest. Dr. Garofalo is a national authority on LGBT health issues, adolescent sexuality, and HIV clinical care and prevention. He is the former president of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and a current board member of Advocates for Youth. In 2011, Dr. Garofalo founded Fred Says, a nonprofit charity supporting the care of HIV-positive teens.
